Zandile is the Chairwoman and founder of GirlCode, a non-profit organisation aimed at empowering young girls and women through technology. Over the past 7 years, GirlCode has grown to be the largest women in ICT lead organisation in South Africa hosting the largest an annual all-female hackathon with over 300 participants. Through her leadership, the organisation has grown immensely to host monthly coding and robotics workshops teaching over 3000 girls from primary and high schools. Providing vacation work opportunities to university students and job opportunities to hundreds of girls. In 2019, 8 of the GirlCode community members received job offers in the U.K as a result of partnerships formed by GirlCode with multinational corporations. She is also the CEO and founder of EmpowerXx, a women-in-STEM focused recruitment agency whose focus is to accelerate women in leadership positions within corporates.
She is a recipient the 50 Most Inspiring Women in ICT 2018 Award, in the same year, she was awarded a social entrepreneurship award by the premier of Gauteng David Makhura.
She is also a valued keynote speaker, having shared the stage at the Standard Bank Women in Technology Conference, the Africa Women In Tech Conference and the South African STEM Conference. She has also been interviewed on local South African TV shows like Enca and publications such as Brainstorm Magazine.
Zandile believes in creating opportunities that impact both the social and economic status for women as well as the progress and development of technology companies who are currently still predominantly white male-dominated.
