Meet Mapitso Thaisi.
Mapitso is truly a multifaceted, powerful force.
She works as an occupational therapist and has recently obtained her Masters of Philosophy in Human Rights Law from the University of Cape Town. She is also the founder of the amazing brand, Shweshwekini. Shweshwekini, founded in 2017, started out as a swim wear line inspired by the Sotho print and has now grown to include active wear as well as accessories like tote bags for men and women.
Mapitso was named as one of the Women Changing South Africa by Mail & Guardian and also featured on local show Top Billing. She was also a part of the Design Indaba’s Emerging Creatives Class of 2018.

What are the 3 words you would use to describe yourself?
Caring, thoughtful and tenacious.
What is your biggest fear about the future?
That I might not be around to witness it long enough.
What would be the title of your memoir and why?
“Sliding into home.” Basically finding myself, my voice and who I really am and my true purpose.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
Having the opportunity to try at life one more time for just another 24 hours.
What is your definition of success?
Doing what you love and adding tax on it.
One fun fact about you?
I’m very impatient after a few moments of being patient.
