Get to know Luyanda Duma

What are the 3 words you would use to describe yourself?

SHE.WHO.DREAMS (Elle Reve). This is a slogan to my life.

But additional to that 3 words that best describe me are AMBITIOUS, GO-GETTER and OCD (I’m a complete neat freak).

What is your biggest fear about the future?

Not achieving all the goals I have set out for myself.

What would be the title of your memoir and why?

Becoming Luyanda.

As a person, one never really reaches a certain level where they are content, we constantly become. I’m a firm believer of always bettering myself in every way. I’m constantly becoming me!

What gets you out of bed every morning?

Mmmh… my goals, my tasks, my duties and commitments. Everyday I commit to doing something and I have the responsibility to SHOW UP! I have a job I need to show up for, there are people waiting to hear from me so I cannot disappoint them or myself.

What is your definition of success?

Success for me is very specific to each person based on what you value and hold highly. My definition of success has nothing to do with arriving at a specific point but rather reaching a level where your goals, well-being, relationships, mindset and happiness are at level that makes you happy, bearing in mind that this balance is very hard to achieve. Success is setting goals for yourself and committing to them. Success is failing at something but still trying again after. Success is using the lessons learnt from failure a starting point of starting over.

One fun fact about you?

Lol, that I was a netball coach perhaps? I’m also actually very silly and funny if I can say so myself. Oh, and according to my friends I dance like Zodwa Wabantu.
